According to Uptime Institute's 2020 Annual Outage analysis, the most common causes of data center outages in 2019 were problems with IT services (31 percent), data networking (30 percent), and uninterruptible power (15 percent). On March 9, 2021, a fire engulfed the OVH data centre in Strasbourg. More than a hundred firefighters battled the blaze throughout the night. OVH founder Octave Klaba revealed in a short video that the fire was caused by an uninterruptible power supply that had been serviced the day before. Firefighters explored the scene with thermal imagers and confirmed the information. So far, no one has promised to assess the damage OVH has suffered, but of course this is not just about money, because reputation is as important as brand damage.

It is necessary to minimize the possibility of a serious data center failure caused by the ups power system.
